Archive Show #164

Bike Week Radio Show was happy to have returning to the air, Kieth and Steve Huff. Together with Paul Flanders and District 37 put on the famous LA / Barstow / Vegas dual-sport ride. Kieth talked about all the preperation it takes to put on such an event.

We also had Eugene Villines, who was on his motorcycle riding home from work when he was injured by lightning. Witnesses say it appeared lightning struck Villines' motorcycle or the road near him. Eugene said his safety precautions wearing proper gear saved his life including his Scorpion helmet.

About LA / Barstow / Vegas: District 37 Dual Sport has succeeded in making LA-B-to-V the most famous and longest two-day Dual Sport ride in the world. This is the 32nd year for the best 400 mile-plus dual sport ride of the year. This year’s tour will start the day after Thanksgiving, using creative routes chosen to Barstow and Las Vegas. Your gear bag will be transported from point-to-point each day. Large Adventure bikes, vintage bikes, side-hacks and small displacement bikes are all welcome to join in the fun with the regular dual sport bikes-as long as they are street legal.
After an overnight stop in Barstow, the route continues to The Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for the exciting Saturday night Awards Ceremony with a raffle and lots of prizes. Visit the dual sport message board at www.district37ama.org for updates or to arrange carpooling for the ride.
