SAN DIEGO MOTORCYCLE RACING LEGEND BROC GLOVER TO BE HONORED BY THE LEGENDS AND HEROES OF MOTOCROSS MUSEUM

The "Golden Boy" celebrated during Monster Energy Supercross at San Diego's Petco Park

February 6th, 2015 - Manlius, NY:  The Legends and Heroes Moto Museum Tour will honor Supercross great AMA Motocross Champion and AMA Hall of Famer Broc Glover at the 6th Round of the Monster Energy Supercross in San Diego, at PETCO Stadium, on February 7th 2015.

Dubbed the "Golden Boy" by the motorcycling press of the era, Broc Glover was one of the leading motocross competitors in AMA Motocross history. During his career, Glover earned six AMA National Motocross championship titles - a record which stood for nearly 20 years until 2003 when Ricky Carmichael finally eclipsed the mark. Loyal to Yamaha, all of Glover's overall event wins and championships were aboard the iconic tuning fork brand.

Capping off a long professional career that spanned from 1976 to 1989 in true "Golden Boy" fashion, Glover won both his final AMA Pro race, the 1988 Superbowl of Motocross at the LA Coliseum and his final FIM Motocross Gran Prix moto in Angreau, Belgium in 1989.

Upon his retirement, Glover held the AMA all-time wins record in both the 125cc and 500cc motocross categories. He tallied 50 AMA professional motocross and Supercross victories plus numerous international wins. Among his personal favorite championships was the 1981 Trans USA series title (formerly known as Trans-AMA) where he dominated the five round series with four overall victories.

Although injuries kept him from even more opportunities, Glover still represented the United States as a winning member of the 1983 Motocross of Nations (500cc) and the 1983 and 1984 Trophee of Nations (250cc) teams. Continuing with his international racing success, Glover won the 1978 125cc United States Grand Prix in Lexington, Ohio - his rookie GP debut - and he captured the 500cc victory at the 1984 United States Grand Prix at Carlsbad, California.

"I'm proud to have been able to remain relevant in the sport and industry that has been good to me throughout my life and career. To be recognized here in San Diego in front of my family, friends and hometown crowd - and at the inaugural Petco Park Supercross - is even more special," said Glover. "I want to thank Alex Moroz, Mike Owens and the many fine people behind the Legends and Heroes Tour for their efforts to recognize and showcase the history of our sport."

"It's a great honor for us to present Broc with the Legends and Heroes award," states Mike Owens of the Legends and Heroes Tour. "Broc's contributions to the sport have been instrumental in the development of Supercross and Motocross. He is a true champion with so many career wins and very impressive Supercross stats."

The Legends and Heroes of Supercross Moto Museum will host a "Supercross Reunion of Legends" on Saturday during the Monster Energy Supercross "Party in the Pits" from 4-5 p.m. Invited champs include Ricky Johnson, Marty Smith, Mike Bell, Scott Burnworth, Steve Johnson, Tommy Croft, Mark Blackwell, Billy Urban, Steve Stackable, Ron Lechien, Tommy Croft, and Donnie Hansen.

During Saturday evening's pre-race ceremony on the Monster Energy Supercross podium, Broc Glover will be presented with the Legends & Heroes award and a personally monogrammed Rockwell timepiece watch.
